My Design Label ~ By Rebecca Goddard

Beige Travertine Dining Table, By Rebecca Goddard

I’m so excited to share the announcement of my interiors label launch, By Rebecca Goddard. I’ve always had the vision to one day own my own brand so I couldn’t be more elated to have finally set out on this journey, it’s one I’ve worked very hard to make a reality.

If you follow me on Instagram than it’s likely you’re already privy to the news, but I wanted to share this post so that I can delve a bit deeper into my concept for this label and how it all began. At the end of July I launched the first design of the collection, The Ever Dining Table. Later in the year, I’ll be adding new designs and slowly expanding the By Rebecca Goddard range. At its core, By Rebecca Goddard specializes in made-to-order furniture and limited-release objects — bespoke elements for living which are consciously handcrafted from enduring natural stone.

Like many brands, the idea to launch By Rebecca Goddard grew from the desire to create a product I myself had been searching for but couldn’t seem to find. I had spent months looking for the perfect stone dining table, browsing through page after page of vintage dealer and contemporary listing alike. At a certain point I realized what I had envisioned simply didn’t exist… or at least not at a price that felt within reach.

As I searched, the options I found always required some type of compromise. If the color and shape were perfect, the size wasn’t correct. When the size was right and the stone was a suitable color, I didn’t like the shape. And on the rare occasion when I found a design that checked all my boxes, the price put it completely out of the question. This experience is one I believe others have had as well.

So putting my background in furniture design and engineering to good use, I abandoned my search and set off to create my own dream dining table — a table just as I imagined with zero compromises. In the process I realized I had developed a table that many other people would appreciate as well. Not just the option of a single design, but the possibility to have nearly any table concept brought to life, at a price considerate to accessibility.

Finding the right manufacture was the next key step, and I’m thankful to have built a partnership with two skilled stone masons in Turkey who carefully produces each By Rebecca Goddard design on order-basis. We work closely together to develop every product, and I depend deeply on their unique capability of supplying bespoke orders on small-volumes.

Stone is a nonrenewable resource and we have a great respect for its limited nature, so together with my stone masons, I’m seeking clever and beautiful ways to create designs that avoid waste and over consumption. Made-to-order tables and furniture from natural stone will be the foundation of my label, but my vision is to grow By Rebecca Goddard slowly through limited releases. Currently a few smaller, ready-made products are already in development and will be launching later this summer!

I’m very excited for this next chapter in my work, and overall my intention is simple and honest. I want to create beautiful, long-enduring, consciously made pieces, without compromise when it comes to aesthetics and quality: ageless design made from soulful materials — the type of pieces you keep forever.
