Is there anything dreamier than picking lavender in the rolling hills of a picturesque Hungarian village?

On our third day in Hungary, Sven and I decided to take a train ride out of Budapest to explore the lovely peninsula of Tihany. We were lucky enough to have planed our visit during Tihany’s annual Lavender Festival (Levendula Fesztivál). In the center of the peninsula, there is a beautiful lavender field where festival goers can pick their own lavender for a small fee.

So many little aspects of this charming peninsula seemed too idealistic to be real – like the romanticized European villages of my daydreams.
But if you’re not into frolicking around in lavender fields…

there are plenty of other things to do in Tihany such as going for a dip in Lake Balaton, tasting local treats like lavender infused beer and ice cream, and exploring the hilltop village – I’ll share those details in an upcoming post.

XOXO
Rebecca
